Living One Day at a Time

My architect, interior designer, furniture designer, author friend has launched his first ever book. Its called Modern Furniture- a variety of styles. I attended his book launching yesterday at the hotel, I got the chance to rub elbows with some furniture tycoons and a lot of high profiled people- those whom you see in the news lately! ;-) 

Last night I had the time to read my friend’s book. I am overwhelmed by the way he wrote. My favorites were his discussions about Living rooms and bedrooms. I also like the photos of tables and closets. His ideas were fresh and unique. Its really a good read!

One time, I was invited to visit the showroom of the furniture maker I met at the convention. He was advertising his newly designed Dinning Tables. I found them very interesting. I remember our old house Dinning Room Tables. We had two because we were many living at our grandparents house. When we ate together, its like we always have an grand occasion to celebrate

Now, we have an oval dining room tables at home. I wonder if dad wants to replace it.

My sister’s best friend will getting married soon. She will marry her longtime Spanish boyfriend. My sister asked me what perfect gift she can give to bride. I told her since her best friend has a cooking hobby why not give her a paella pan which she can use in her Spanish cuisines. My sister agreed and told her best friend cooks paella she should invite me for dinner lol!

When I went home last night, I was surprised to see my 15 year old nephew. I used to baby sit him and now he is a young man! He is now in his junior year in high school. His mom, my cousin, sent her at our place to ask my dad’s help because he is failing his wood shop subject. I was wondering what is wood shop all about. Only to find out that it was about carpentry stuff.

Curious and willing to learn, I joined them when my dad discussed with him Workshop and Home Improvement, the use of Tools and Hardware and Hand Tools. I realized how interesting carpentry is. And you need some skill to do it properly. It’s not only my nephew who did learn a lot, I did too including searching the net on the kinds on tools on shopwiki.

I visited my friend who was at the site where his house is being constructed. I was happy to see that it is almost finished, his dream house as he calls it.

The interior designer of his house was leaving when I got there. My friend told me they were discussing some last details for the guestroom. He even showed me some pictures of Bedroom Furniture. He asked my opinion on which is better between the Contemporary Bedroom Furniture or the Modern Bedroom Furniture. I told him that since I’m planning to be always a guest in his house, I want the modern bedroom. I think he is going to agree with me.

Summer has always been the best season for us. It’s the time of the year where we get to spend a longer period with our love ones, as compared with the holidays. Kids have summer vacations and often times we get summer work leaves. And most of these free times are spent at our home while bonding with the whole family. For this summer, I am planning to have our lawn get a new landscape. More grass and plants sh0uld be added. I am also thinking of putting a sand box and a seesaw on the left side corner for the kids and outdoor furniture on the opposite side. I’m sure everyone; especially the kids will love to see these new things this summer.

I am also planning to have a general cleaning in the house since everyone are around to help me. First I like to renovate our attic for more space and rooms in the house. It would going to be our home office or work room. My problem is how would to start the clean up and renovation when the attic is full of valuable things. I cant simply disposed them. To my curiosity, I searched the net some tips in packing and I found this website Art Storage. They offer a space for some belongings, properties paintings and arts to be stored with them securely and safely. What a good idea from them. For now I am really excited to pursue this plan of mine.
