Living one day at a time

For some people, they need a quite and peaceful rest at home of away from the city. The serenity that one had been longing for because of the many problems that he had been thinking will be a good therapy for one’s whole being. Actually, I am planning to have a silent retreat for the next few days. I just want to experience a calm and peaceful place where I can just talk to God and listen to Him as well. I have a friend in a convent who will accommodate me for this kind of activity.

I went for a jog this early morning. The crisp air was so good this morning. I made a few rounds and decided to rest at the park. The sun was starting to rise when I resting on a bench. It feels so peaceful and relaxing. I wish I could see sunrise everyday. After which, I went home to freshen up. It’s our day with the twins. My parents and I were visiting my sister and her family. We had a Sunday lunch with the whole family. The twins even called on the phone yesterday to confirm our visit. When we got there, they were all in the garden grilling stakes. We brought fresh veggies for lunch and we enjoyed the whole sunday as our family day .

For month, I am assigned at the Human Resources department. This is part of the rotation process the company had implemented to train a few employee –those who are vying for a managerial and executive position -to be familiarized with the whole company operation. I was the one who interviewed one of the applicant’s for a position in the Information system department. I was a bit disappointed because one applicant was called for an interview for a systems data position, when his past job was a barcode scanner sales agent. Though it’s true that scanners are somehow related to the information system, selling them doesn’t qualify an experience about data management. I hope I was not too rude to cut the interview really short because I think he is in line with the sales department and unfortunately we are not hiring people for the sales department. One thing I learned about businesses is that you match your people with work according to their abilities. That is not easy to do because you will only see the true capabilities of people through time. So when you interview applicants, its best to look at their potentials as a start of their evaluation. It’s kinda hard because it’s like judging books by the cover!

The last time my sister and I visited our grandmother, her house was being cleaned by her helpers. We noticed some new things in her big house; we call it my grandma’s mansion because when we were kids, it looked really big. Anyway, my grandma was supervising the helpers cleaning her fireplace and the electric fireplace insert, when we arrived. My sister and I were amazed when we saw her fireplace that techie and cool. I wish I have that in my apartment. Grandma told us that one of my cousins installed some gadgets in her house and she doesn’t remember how to operate them all. She can not even recall what are they for and where on her house they were installed. LOL! I hope my cousin will visit soon so that he can remind my grandmother or even the helpers about the gadgets in the house. I also hope I will also be there so that I can learn what the gadgets for the house are and maybe, I can ask my cousin to install some at home. LOL!

My sister’s 19th birthday was last Tuesday. She is living in the city because she is studying there, but she comes home on weekends when she is not busy. Since it’s her birthday was on Tuesday, she was with us last weekend for her advance birthday celebration. When dad told me about his surprise for my sister, the Acer Aspire she had wanted to own, I thought of a plan surprising her. A few days before weekend, we already told her that her birthday celebration will not be that grand when she turned 18. Only few of her friends will be invited and we will cook dinner at home. So, it looked like she had a simple celebration. The surprise came on Tuesday, my dad shipped his gift through the one day shipping service. My sister was so surprised when she had her gift. She immediately called us up thanking. It was really fun. We are all glad she liked the surprise.
